We have a Child Life Specialist on staff to work individually with children, teens and their family to address their unique psychosocial needs when cancer is in the family.
|Individual and Family Support Sessions are available and are tailored to the needs and goals of the family as well as at the developmental level of the child.|
Topics that can be reviewed in these sessions include (but are not limited to):
- Educating children and teens about cancer, its treatments, side effects, etc...
- Preparing children and teens for medical encounters or hospital visits
- Anticipatory grief support for children and teens facing an impending death
- Facilitating positive coping skills using art, play and other modalities
In addition, we also offer support groups for children and teens in treatment, or for those who have a loved one in treatment.
